Loveness Nleya

A little background about me: I am a multi-talented creative, a registered UN consultant, Digital Marketing Advisor & Techpreneur. I work with young people, women, and MSMEs to adopt digital skills, Digital Marketing, tech and the Internet for career, business & income growth. My journey has spanned over 6 years and though my results are not typical, I started that journey with SMB. It gave me the platform to grow and also most importantly impact women. Partnering with SMB was a connector for me and a turning point in my career as a Digital Marketer starting out.

I am self-taught as a Digital Marketer and I happened to be in the SMB WhatsApp group. I offered to train the members on Digital Marketing after much debate in my head and battling the Imposter Syndrome. Michelle responded gracefully when I offered to train Digital Marketing and said she would speak to the board and get back to me. A few months later I was one of the first Premium Trainers for SMB.

There were massive benefits to partnering with SMB:

1) I was able to impact women in business and interact with them.

2) Empowering women being one of my WHYs, SMB fulfilled that need for me to harness tech to empower women.

3) An award-winning partnership also came out of SMB. One of my business partners discovered me during those WhatsApp trainings and we formed a collaboration that has since seen us winning awards and getting recognition at global platforms like the United Nations Agencies.

4) SMB opened new doors for me to be known as a trainer and consultant, something critical when you are getting into the tech space without certification but having mastered the skill.

5) I met amazing business women who are driven to thrive and succeed. My story will not be told without the mention of SMB. I have benefitted from partnering with them and I am excited about their future. They have been consistent in supporting women and being open in collaborating with them.

Sympathy

Women writers support network was launched as a result of partnership with SMB. Our founder, Sympathy ‘Mangwenya’ Sibanda was requested to offer training in harnessing the power of writing. She held a two-day online workshop that covered various areas around business documentation and writing one’s story. Members were very interested that after the training they kept asking questions in her DMs. She went on to create a WhatsApp group to cater for all who needed more information. Two years later this group has grown into a healing space for women, providing writing therapy, networking and room for rehabilitation. We have published two anthologies to date and several members have published their own books, something they would have never achieved had they not been encouraged and trained in the group. We continue to make impact not only in Zimbabwe but beyond.

Joining She Means Business has been a transformative journey for me, both personally and professionally. From the moment I became a part of this vibrant community of entrepreneurial women, I knew I had found a place where my aspirations could flourish. The training programs offered by She Means Business have been nothing short of exceptional. One particular workshop that left an indelible mark on me was the session on managing finances. It not only equipped me with practical tools to navigate the financial landscape of my business but also instilled a newfound confidence in handling my financial matters effectively. One of the most rewarding experiences was having the privilege to share my expertise through live video training. Guiding fellow women entrepreneurs on harnessing the power of live video to expand their reach and impact was incredibly gratifying. The spirit of collaboration within the community enabled us to exchange ideas, strategies, and experiences, which played a pivotal role in propelling our respective businesses forward. What sets She Means Business apart is its holistic approach to fostering success. From uplifting business showers to celebrating birthdays, the sisterhood within the community is heartwarming and inspiring. These moments of shared joy further reinforce the sense of belonging that She Means Business cultivates. I am truly honoured to be a part of She Means Business and to witness firsthand the incredible support and growth it offers to entrepreneurial women. As I look back on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable connections I've made, the skills I've honed, and the boundless opportunities that lie ahead—all thanks to She Means Business.

Confy Essentials

A report by Unesco estimates that one in ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa misses school during their menstrual cycle. In fact, some girls even drop out of school completely once they get their periods. As She Means Business we want to be part of the community that allows a girl to have dignity during their periods in order to become an empowered woman who completed school. We have partnered with Confy Essentials to drive for girls to reach their full potential.

Confy Essentials is a social project that was started in 2020 with a goal to provide comprehensive menstrual health and hygiene solutions particularly for young girls in the local community. To date, they have managed to reach out to over 250 girls in Zimbabwe and South Africa through conducting dignity workshops where they provide menstrual health education and also distribute dignity packs which consist of hygiene essentials such as reusable & disposable sanitary pads, roll on and soap, among other supplies.

Their ongoing dignity drive is targeted at raising sanitary donations towards a school based in the rural district of Goromonzi and Ruwa areas in Zimbabwe, where a vast number of children come from poor families and are being supported by either the church or the BEAM programme. As such, they often lack access to basic amenities to manage their hygiene including sanitary pads. Most of the girls cannot afford to acquire pads on a monthly basis and tend to improvise during their menstrual cycle and use items such as old cloths, torn socks and toilet paper, which are often prone to leaks and can also pose risk of infections. Confy Essentials is particularly looking at assisting 100 girls in Form 3 & 4 during a Life Skills bootcamp in an effort to encourage them to focus on their studies and relieve them of the stress that often comes with their periods.
